GoldenEye 007 is one of the most important Nintendo 64 releases and still one of the clearest examples of how influential console shooters became in the late 1990s. Its single-player campaign matters, but the real long-term reputation comes from four-player split-screen matches that defined countless local multiplayer sessions. Cartridge-only copies still appeal to collectors because the game remains such a recognisable cornerstone of the N64 library.
